Gemini Agent for Work Pricing & Access: Preview, No Price Yet
As of October 10, 2026, the Gemini agent is in private preview with no list price. Google plans no add-on fee, but agent usage is expected to be metered.
On this page

Google has not published a price for the Gemini agent it announced on October 8, 2026. As of October 10, the agent is in private preview for a select group of customers. Two statements outline how it will be charged. A Google Cloud spokesperson told VentureBeat for its October 8 report on the Gemini agent that once broadly released, the agent will be "included at no additional charge for customers where Gemini Enterprise is available, including through existing Google Workspace business and enterprise subscriptions." And according to Constellation Research's account of the analyst Q&A Google held after the event, executives said pricing will be consumption-based, with no extra SKU or add-on, and that general availability is expected around the end of October or early November 2026.
Taken together: no add-on fee on top of the seat you already pay for, but agent usage is expected to be metered. A company on Gemini Enterprise, or on a Workspace plan Google ends up including, should receive the agent as an update. Google has not named those Workspace plans, published consumption rates, or said whether coworker agents need their own licenses. On a personal Google account, the business agent is not available to you at all. The closest thing you can use today is Gemini Spark, which requires a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription.
Gemini agent pricing: no list price, and what "no additional charge" covers
Google has published no Gemini agent SKU, seat price or usage rate as of October 10, 2026. Thomas Kurian's Gemini at Work 2026 keynote post describes what the agent does, but it contains no price, plan list, region list or launch date. Google told VentureBeat it "will share additional pricing details closer to the wider release," and compared the eventual rollout to a software version update: no separate app, website or setup.
Constellation Research's write-up adds the shape of the model, paraphrasing executives rather than quoting a Google page. Consumption-based pricing "will be the norm" for the agent, and the pricing model itself stays the same. In Workspace, current plans continue, and the exact consumption model for agent usage comes later.
"No additional charge" is not the same as free. Five costs sit outside that promise or remain open:
- The seat underneath. You still pay for the Gemini Enterprise seat or the Workspace subscription the agent rides on. The promise only means there is no extra add-on on top of it.
- Usage. The agent can split work across temporary sub-agents and keep jobs running for hours or days. The keynote says Gemini tracks "token usage and sandbox costs" against per-project spend caps, and Constellation's report describes consumption-based pricing. The rates are not published, and neither is whether agent tasks first draw on a seat's pooled daily quota (see the table below) or bill straight to pay-as-you-go.
- Claude models. In Gemini Enterprise, admin-enabled Claude models bill pay-as-you-go and do not draw on pooled seat credits. Google documents this for its AI developer tools; that the agent's Claude routing bills the same way is an inference. Rates are in the models section below.
- Coworker agents. In Workspace, a coworker agent gets its own Workspace account, with an email address, calendar, Drive and a place in the company directory. Google has not said whether each of those accounts needs its own license.
- How many coworkers you can deploy. Google has not published a limit.
Until Google publishes the pricing details it promised, budget for the seats you already buy plus a capped amount of project-level usage. The spend-cap section below shows how to set that cap.
What a Gemini Enterprise Standard or Plus seat includes today
The clearest picture of "what the seat already covers" is Google's Gemini Enterprise quotas and overages documentation. Each license adds to a daily pool shared by all users of that edition in the same project and location:
| Per license, pooled | Standard | Plus |
|---|---|---|
| Assistant queries per day | 160 | 200 |
| Image generations per day | 5 | 10 |
| Video generation requests per day | 2 | 3 |
| Deep Research reports per day | 3 | 10 |
| No-code agents created per day | 1 | 10 |
| AI developer tools credit | $10 per user per month | $15 per user per month |
Pooling means 100 Standard licenses share 16,000 Assistant queries a day (100 × 160), and one heavy user can draw more than 160 as long as the pool lasts. When a pool runs out, admins "can enable overages to allow uninterrupted usage at pay-as-you-go rates." The pay-as-you-go edition has no feature quotas: storage is $5 per GiB per month and everything else bills at Agent Platform prices. The doc predates the agent and does not say how agent tasks count against these pools. Business edition quotas are documented separately.
Who can use the Gemini agent now? Access by account as of October 10, 2026
Only organizations in Google's private preview can use the Gemini agent today. Google has published no general-availability date; the end-of-October or early-November window comes from Constellation Research's report of the analyst Q&A. Everyone else falls into one of the rows below. "After wider release" repeats what Google or the press has said. None of it is a published plan list.
| Your account | Gemini agent today | After wider release | What to do now |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personal Google account, no subscription | No | Not offered for personal accounts | Use the free Gemini app; Spark needs a paid plan |
| Personal account with Google AI Pro or Ultra | No (business product) | Not offered for personal accounts | Use Gemini Spark if you are 18+ and in a supported country |
| Workspace Business Starter | No | Unclear: Google has not named the qualifying plans | Wait for admin notice; Starter has only "Limited" Gemini in apps |
| Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus or Enterprise | Only if your organization is in the private preview | Google: included at no additional charge in business and enterprise subscriptions; press: "select" plans only | Admins: ask your Google rep or reseller about the preview; set spend caps |
| Gemini Enterprise (Business, Standard, Plus) | Only if your organization is in the private preview | To be "built directly into Gemini Enterprise" at no additional charge, per Google's spokesperson | Ask your Google Cloud account team about preview access |
| No Google business product yet | No | You would need a Gemini Enterprise seat or a qualifying Workspace plan | Start the 30-day Gemini Enterprise Plus trial or contact Google Cloud sales |
| Developer on Google Cloud | No public agent API docs or price | Keynote describes "a single agent and a single API" | Build on Agent Platform, which bills pay-as-you-go |
The phrase "select Business and Enterprise plans" comes from 9to5Google's October 8 article on the Gemini agent, not from a Google page. Neither the keynote nor the Workspace pricing page names those plans. As of October 10, no admin or customer has posted a hands-on account on X of getting preview access or of which plans qualify; Google Cloud's own posts only thank its "early access testers."
Business Starter is the least likely of the Workspace plans to qualify. Google's pricing page gives it "Limited" Gemini in Workspace apps and only "Basic access" to the Gemini app, while Standard, Plus and Enterprise get full Gemini in apps and "Expanded access." That is a reading of the feature table, not something Google has said about the agent.
Industry versions have their own track. The keynote says the agent is "now in preview for Financial Services and Legal, and coming soon to Government, Healthcare, and Retail." No price has been given for any of them.
Gemini Enterprise pricing: $21 and $30 seats removed after October 1
Gemini Enterprise has no public seat price on Google's product page as of October 10, 2026. The page now offers only "Contact sales" and a free trial. The prices that still circulate were listed on that same page on October 1.
On October 1, 2026, Google's Gemini Enterprise page as archived by the Wayback Machine was titled "Gemini Enterprise app: Best of Google AI for Business" and listed three editions. By October 10, the live Gemini for Business product page at the same address was titled "Gemini for Business: The Universal Work Agent," with no seat prices at all.
| Edition | Last listed price (October 1, 2026) | Limits shown then | October 10, 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Business | Starting at $21 per seat per month | Up to 300 seats, 25 GiB pooled storage per seat, 30-day trial | No price shown |
| Standard / Plus | Starting at $30 per seat per month | Unlimited seats, up to 75 GiB pooled per seat, 30-day trial | No price shown |
| Pay-as-you-go | $0 seat fee, usage billed at pay-as-you-go rates | "For organizations with 20+ seats," limited rollout | No price shown |
Treat those numbers as "last listed," not as a current quote. Google has not said whether the old prices still apply after the rename, so get a written quote from Google Cloud sales before you budget around them.

Google's own documents also disagree on limits. Google's "Compare editions of Gemini Enterprise" documentation gives Business "1-500 users," while the October 1 page and the Gemini Enterprise FAQ say teams of up to 300. The same doc sets a "1 minimum seat requirement" for pay-as-you-go, against "20+ seats" on the October 1 page, and requires an invoiced Cloud Billing account. Frontline is an add-on for organizations with 150 or more Standard or Plus users.
The billing model is clearer than the prices. The Gemini Enterprise FAQ says the Gemini Enterprise app is "billed on a per-seat, per-month basis and requires an active user license," while Agent Platform, the developer side that grew out of Vertex AI, "uses pay-as-you-go consumption billing." If you are choosing between the developer routes rather than buying seats, the guide to the Gemini API vs Vertex AI API covers that decision.
How much is Gemini in Workspace? Business plans at $7, $14 and $22
Gemini in Workspace comes bundled into Workspace plans rather than sold as an add-on. The Google Workspace pricing page lists these US prices per user per month on a one-year commitment, before promotions and tax, as of October 10, 2026:
| Workspace plan | Price | Gemini in Workspace apps | Gemini app | Max users |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Business Starter | $7 | Limited (Gmail and Vids; not Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Meet or Chat) | Basic access | 300 |
| Business Standard | $14 | Included | Expanded access | 300 |
| Business Plus | $22 | Included | Expanded access | 300 |
| Enterprise | Contact sales | Included | Expanded access | No limit |
The page also runs introductory discounts for new customers, including 50% off for three months on some plans, and prices vary by country. Workspace Studio, which Google describes as a way to "automate your workday with intelligent AI agents," appears on all four plans. It is a separate product from the Gemini agent.
If the agent does arrive through Workspace at no additional charge, the real cost for a team is the plan it already pays for. Under the list prices above, a 20-person team on Business Standard pays 20 × $14 = $280 a month, and on Business Plus 20 × $22 = $440 a month. Google has not said yet whether either plan qualifies.
Gemini agent vs Gemini Spark, Workspace Studio and the 2025 Ultra agent
Google uses the word "agent" for several products. Google itself calls the October 8 product simply "Gemini," which makes the mix-up worse. Here is what each name refers to:
| Name | What it is | Who can get it | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gemini agent (October 8, 2026) | Business agent across Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, desktop, mobile and the command line | Private preview; later Gemini Enterprise and some Workspace plans | No published price; "no additional charge" per Google's spokesperson, usage-based per an analyst report |
| Gemini Spark | Consumer agent that runs tasks and schedules in the Gemini app | Personal Google accounts with Google AI Pro or Ultra, 18+ | Price of the AI Pro or Ultra plan |
| Workspace Studio | No-code automations with AI agents inside Workspace | Business Starter, Standard, Plus and Enterprise | Included in the Workspace plan |
| Gemini Enterprise app agents | Prebuilt agents such as Deep Research, plus custom and third-party agents | Gemini Enterprise seats | Seat price (Contact sales as of October 10) |
| "Agent" in Google AI Ultra (November 2025) | Earlier consumer agent for US Ultra subscribers | Historical | Reported at $249.99 a month at launch; not a current price |
Gemini Spark is where many personal users actually land. Google's Gemini Spark help page lists the requirements: be 18 or over, sign in with a personal Google account, have Google AI Pro or Ultra, and keep Keep Activity on. It works in the Gemini mobile app, the Gemini app on Mac and gemini.google.com. It is "available wherever Gemini Apps are supported, except in the European Economic Area, Nigeria, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom."
The Gemini Spark overview page also mentions "select business users." The help page is the operative rule, though: "For now, this feature isn't available if you sign in with a work or school Google Account." If your Gemini app is signed in with a company account, Spark is not an option, and the October 8 agent is the product to wait for.
How to get Gemini agent access: preview request, 30-day trial or rollout
There is no self-serve signup for the Gemini agent. Which route fits depends on what your organization already has.
- Already on Gemini Enterprise or a Workspace business or enterprise plan: ask your Google Cloud account team or reseller whether you can join the private preview. Google describes it as open to "a select group of customers," so expect a waitlist or a no.
- No Google business product yet: Google's product page says you can try "Gemini Enterprise Plus edition at no cost for 30 days without sales assistance" through the Google Cloud free trial for Gemini Enterprise. The trial gives you Gemini Enterprise, not a guaranteed seat in the agent preview. The same page notes that background task delegation, Gemini on mobile and desktop, and third-party model choice "are currently in early access."
- Waiting for the rollout: you do not need to install anything. Google says the agent will need no separate setup and compared the rollout to a version update; the reported general-availability window is the end of October or early November. Watch the Admin console and Google's Workspace announcements for the plan list.
- Before anyone gets access: set a spend cap on the Google Cloud project the agent will bill against (next section). Then decide who can create coworker agents, since each one receives a Workspace identity.
- Personal account: use Gemini Spark if you meet its requirements. The business agent does not run on personal accounts.
Spend caps that pause the Gemini agent before costs run over
You can limit what the agent spends today, even without a price list. The keynote says that if you set a hard limit on a project's AI spend in the Cloud Billing Console, "that project's agent pauses, and you can choose to resume work with a single click." Because tracking is per project, you can also charge AI costs back to each department.
The mechanics come from Google Cloud's August 2026 post on billing and cost controls for agents:
- Hard monthly cap per project. When a project hits it, "the agent's API calls temporarily pause" without affecting the rest of your infrastructure.
- Email alerts at 50%, 80% and 100% of the cap.
- Resume or overage. Resume with one click, or turn on overages so extra usage is billed at consumption rates.
- Anomaly alerts. Spend that trends above normal gets flagged, along with the top three SKUs driving it.
- Flexible Savings Plans. 10% off for a one-year commitment or 20% off for three years on monthly Gemini Enterprise spend, with no minimum or maximum.
- Pricing Calculator. Estimates per-user licenses, developer tools and background agent runtime before you commit.

Caps are per project for now. Constellation Research reports that admins will also be able to set individual caps "in the coming weeks."
For a preview pilot, give the agent its own project with a cap you are comfortable losing. Long sub-agent jobs are exactly the case Google has not priced yet.
Which models and data the Gemini agent uses: Claude today or later?
Claude is in the preview, but not yet something every customer can switch on. The keynote says the agent orchestrates "across our Gemini family of models and Claude models from Anthropic today." The product page FAQ says "Google Gemini models today, with additional models coming soon," and lists third-party model choice as early access. An October 8 post on X by Shubham Saboo, a senior AI product manager at Google, shows the preview's model menu: Auto (smart model selection), Gemini 4 Argon, Gemini 3.8 Flash, Claude Opus 5.5 and Claude Sonnet 5.5, with an "Ask for approval" control in the prompt box. Expect Gemini models by default, and confirm Claude for your own tenant.
Claude also bills differently from Gemini. In Google's Gemini Enterprise AI developer tools settings documentation, Claude Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5 are off by default. An administrator has to enable them and accept Anthropic's terms, and inference runs only in the global, US or EU locations. The doc states: "Gemini models draw from your organization's pooled edition seat credits, while administrator-enabled third-party models are billed as pay-as-you-go usage on your Cloud Billing account." On October 9, Rich Hyndman, who works in developer relations for Antigravity at Google, wrote on X that Anthropic models "do not draw from the pooled Gemini Enterprise Standard and Plus edition monthly quotas," are billed pay-as-you-go, and need overages enabled. Google Cloud chief evangelist Richard Seroter described Claude access as "billed by consumption." Hyndman said a Google blog post on Claude billing in Gemini Enterprise is slated for October 14.
All of these statements cover Gemini Enterprise's developer tools. Google has not said the agent's Claude routing bills the same way, though it is the likeliest reading. The pay-as-you-go rates Google links for that usage, from Google's Agent Platform pricing for Anthropic's Claude models (global endpoint, prompts up to 200K tokens):
| Model | Input per 1M tokens | Output per 1M tokens |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Sonnet 5.5 | $2.00 | $10.00 |
| Claude Opus 5.5 | $4.00 | $20.00 |
If you want agent spend to stay inside seat pools during the preview, leave third-party models disabled until Google publishes the agent's billing.
On data, Google told VentureBeat that agents can open only files explicitly shared with them through Workspace permissions, and that admins can control which models agents may use. The product page says customer data, including prompts and outputs, is not used to train Google models. Google did not say whether prompts are sent to external model providers when a third-party model handles a job, or what retention and data-residency terms apply in that case. Regulated teams should get that answer in writing before enabling non-Google models.
Gemini agent pricing and access FAQ
Can I use the Gemini agent for free?
No. The October 8 Gemini agent is in private preview, and once it rolls out, Google says it will be included at no additional charge only for customers who already pay for Gemini Enterprise or a qualifying Workspace business or enterprise plan. The nearest no-cost option is the 30-day Gemini Enterprise Plus trial, which does not guarantee preview access.
Is the Gemini agent included in Google Workspace?
Google told VentureBeat it will be included "through existing Google Workspace business and enterprise subscriptions" once broadly released. According to Constellation Research's report of Google's analyst Q&A, current Workspace plans continue as they are and the consumption model for agent usage comes later. Google has not published which Workspace plans qualify, and press reports refer only to "select Business and Enterprise plans."
When will the Gemini agent be generally available?
Google has not published a date. Constellation Research reports that executives expect general availability around the end of October or early November 2026. Until then, access is limited to the private preview.
Does using Claude in the Gemini agent cost extra?
Probably, though Google has not said so for the agent. In Gemini Enterprise's developer tools, admin-enabled Claude models bill pay-as-you-go on Cloud Billing instead of drawing on pooled seat credits, at $2 input and $10 output per 1M tokens for Claude Sonnet 5.5 and $4 and $20 for Claude Opus 5.5. Applying that to the agent is an inference.
Does Workspace Business Starter get the Gemini agent?
Google has not said. Starter is the weakest candidate, because Google's pricing page gives it only "Limited" Gemini in Workspace apps and "Basic access" to the Gemini app. That is a reading of the feature table, not a Google statement.
Do coworker agents need their own Workspace license?
Google has not said. A coworker agent gets its own Workspace account with email, calendar, Drive and a directory entry, and VentureBeat reported that Google has not clarified whether those accounts carry separate licensing fees.
Is the Gemini agent the same as the agent in my Gemini app?
No. The agent in the consumer Gemini app is Gemini Spark, which needs a personal Google account and Google AI Pro or Ultra. The October 8 Gemini agent is a business product for Gemini Enterprise and Workspace organizations.
Does the Gemini agent cost $250 a month?
No. That figure comes from late-2025 coverage of an earlier consumer agent that launched for US Google AI Ultra subscribers in November 2025, when the Ultra plan was reported at $249.99 a month. The October 8 business agent has no published price.
Is the Gemini agent available outside the US?
Google has not published a country list for the Gemini agent. The Gemini app's supported-countries list covers the consumer and Workspace Gemini app, not this agent. Gemini Spark specifically excludes the European Economic Area, Nigeria, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
